Suncoast Grand Prix Festival
Lido Beach Resort is just steps from one of Sarasota's most exciting annual events
With one of the longest-running powerboat races in the country, the annual Suncoast Grand Prix Festival is a favorite among locals and tourists alike. The 10-day event takes place every summer across a variety of local venues and culminates in two days of racing over Fourth of July weekend. Book a stay at Lido Beach Resort now and enjoy easy access to all of the fun – whether you plan on winning or simply watching!
The 32nd annual Suncoast Grand Prix Festival is scheduled for June 25 through July 4, 2016. In the days leading up to the Jet Ski and powerboat races, take advantage of an array of thrilling preliminary events, from driver meet-and-greets to car shows. Amateur athletes can get in on the action at the Suncoast Fun Run, and night owls won’t want to miss the downtown block party, known for its tasty food and spectacular live entertainment. A spectacular fireworks show on July 4th, along with a parade of boats and Miss Hooters Swimsuit Pageant, are among scheduled events.
In 2016, the first races start at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 2, along beautiful Lido Beach (between Big Sarasota Pass and New Pass — right outside of our front door). Ticket prices include food, non-alcoholic beverages and complimentary parking, although guests at our Sarasota resort can simply walk over to watch the fun. A cash bar is also available, and all proceeds from the event benefit the Suncoast Charities for Children, which serves area youth who have special needs.
After the winners have been announced and the festivities are powered down, retire to Lido Beach Resort and unwind in stylish guest rooms featuring plush bedding, flat-screen TVs, private balconies and gorgeous ocean views. If you’ve got energy to burn still, our beachfront tiki bar is the ideal locale to take in a stunning Florida sunset while sipping on a tropical cocktail.
